Does the prosthesis extend all the way to the throat?
No, it is only supported by the teeth. Therefore, it is comfortable to use.
Is it comfortable to use? Is it difficult to put on and take off?
It is comfortable to use since it is prepared according to the individual’s own mouth structure. Its use is as simple as putting on and taking off the glasses.
Will my mouth stay open at night when the prosthesis is in my mouth, will it cause dry mouth?
No, the lips will close when the prosthesis is worn. In addition, since the amount of oxygen in the body will increase, salivation will return to its normal function and dry mouth will not be experienced.
How long will it take for the prosthesis to be effective?
It will start to show its effect from the first night of use. The number of snoring and blockages will decrease from the first night (most of the time it stops completely) and the main effects are observed within 3-4 weeks.
Is the prosthesis rigid as a material?
It is made of hard material to increase the effectiveness of the treatment. However, the fact that the prosthesis is made of hard material does not create any difficulties in terms of the use of the prosthesis.
What Causes My Bad Breath?
Pungent meals can generate transient smells in the mouth. However, foul breath occurs frequently when germs grow on your tongue, teeth, and gums. Low saliva production causes dry mouth, which is another cause of foul breath. Bad breath can also be a sign of various health problems. Your poor breath might be exacerbated by the foods you eat and your unhealthy living choices.
Can Halitosis Be Caused By My Nose?
Yes. When foul breath comes from your nose, nasal exhalation exacerbates it. Nasal causes of bad breath include acute or chronic rhinosinusitis and Parkinson’s disease (postnasal drip).
Should I Visit a Dentist if I Have Bad Breath?
Regular exams and cleanings prevent cavities and gingivitis from forming. If you get regular checks twice a year or more and still have foul breath, make an appointment right away.
What Exactly Is a Good Dental Hygiene Routine?
Everyone should clean their teeth at least twice a day and floss once a day. The best results are obtained with a mechanical toothbrush. Tongue scrapers are much more effective in removing microorganisms.
Case Studies
Halitosis is the name given to the emergence of unwanted odor occurring from empty cavities such as mouth, nose and sinuses. Halitosis may occur due to local problems in the oral environment or disorders related to general health, as well as during normal physiological functioning. With the consumption of foods with an unpleasant odor such as onions and garlic, which mix with the blood after their tasks in the digestive system are completed, the bad odor that occurs in the body is thrown out by the connection between the trachea and the mouth-stomach. This situation should not be confused with our subject, “existing bad breath”. The worst feature of bad breath is that it cannot be noticed by the person itself, mostly because “the nose is lazy against the constantly existing smell”. Since the condition in question closely affects the social life of the person, treatment should definitely be sought, and this treatment should be performed with the work of a consensus of many branch doctors, including dentists.
Does “halitosis” increase with age?
In addition to various dental conditions, such as decreased secretion functions of the salivary glands and related dental tartar occurrence, gingival infections, loss of gum tissue and neglecting the oral care, disorders such as diabetes, liver diseases such as cirrhosis, rheumatism, kidney disorders, vitamin deficiencies and different types of drug use increase the “halitosis”.

What are the causes of bad breath?
As mentioned in the text above, bad breath can occur due to many general health reasons, especially problems related to the oral environment. “Acetone and ketone odor in the breath” that occurs in liver and kidney disorders, diseases such as syphilis, irregular diet, placing the consumption of foods such as onions/garlic into the routine of life, diabetes, rheumatic fever, lung disorders, usage of various drugs, consumption of tobacco products, inadequate oral care, inability of patients using prostheses to clean their prostheses adequately, stress and related gum diseases, unhygienic dental prostheses can be counted among the main causes of bad breath.
Is it possible for me to have a “bad breath” problem even though I have good oral and dental health?
If you consume cigarettes and similar tobacco products, and if you frequently consume foods such as onions and garlic, which are the two famous offenders, it is inevitable that you will experience bad breath. However, if the points we have listed do not apply to you, you may have a systemic disorder we have previously mentioned.
Could “halitosis” be an indicator of other health problems?
Halitosis may be caused by diseases such as diabetes, kidney and liver diseases, syphilis and/or lung diseases.
TEETH-RELATED POINTS
Teeth visibility
When the mouth is opened comfortably and slightly, the incisal third 3.5 mm of the maxillary middle anterior tooth should be visible in a young individual. With age, the decrease in muscle tone causes fewer teeth to appear. Phonetics is a key determinant of the tooth length. To determine the appropriate lip, tongue, incisor support and tooth position, the patient should sit or stand upright in the phonetic exercises.
Thread Sizes
Correct tooth proportion is associated with facial morphology and is important in designing an aesthetically pleasing smile. The proportions of the maxillary central incisors must be aesthetically and mathematically correct. The ratio of their widths to their lengths should be approximately 4/5 (0.8-1.0). The shape and location of the centrals also affect the appearance and placement of the lateral and canine teeth. It is necessary to reach the correct proportions in an aesthetically pleasing smile.
The buccal (cheek) corridor is the dark space (negative space) that appears during smiling between the corners of the mouth and the cheek-facing surfaces of the upper teeth.

Its appearance is shaped by the following variables:
Smile width and maxillary arch
Tone of facial muscles
Positions of the cheek-facing surfaces of the upper premolars
The prominence of the canine teeth, especially the distal facial line angle
Any inconsistency between premolars and six anterior teeth values
Consequently, there is no formula for preliminary aesthetics; instead, the final aesthetic consists of a combination of the following elements:
Reference lines
Patient’s perception
Cultural and social influences
The artistic effects of the dentist
Effective communication with the laboratory

SOFT TISSUE-RELATED POINTS
Gingival Health (gum health)
Since the gingiva functions as the framework of the teeth, the final aesthetic success of the case is significantly affected by gingival health. It is very important to fully improve the health of the gums before starting any treatment.
Healthy gingiva usually has the following features.
Pale pink, orange peel appearance, solid and matte
Its facial surface is 3 mm above the level of the alveolar bone.
It should end in the contact area 5 mm above the bone in the interdental area and fill the gingival embrasure.
Gingival level and harmony
Creating the right gum levels for each tooth is the key to a harmonic smile. The gingival height (position and level) of the centrals should be symmetrical. Also, this level should match that of the canines. It is acceptable that the lateral incisors have the same gingival level, but the gingival image closer to the plane of the cutting edge makes the smile more pleasant and preferable. The least preferred form is that the lateral incisors are at the root level compared to the central and canine teeth.
Essentials of Smile Design
In the light of all these, the smile we create should be aesthetically appealing and functionally pleasing. It is our duty to evaluate, diagnose and get the best results by considering all the factors of our patients. We should be as conservative (protective) as possible while designing a smile. Our aim should be to achieve the most aesthetic and most durable result with the least reduction (removal) from the tooth structure. Cosmetic dentistry requires a multidisciplinary work; Orthodontic, periodontal and surgical procedures can be applied when necessary.

I would like to share my views after about 3 months of treatment. First, I researched many countries and spoke to many clinics.
The clinic we went to for my fiancée's wisdom tooth extraction was so hygienic and sterilized, similar to the Covid days. The staff welcomed us with smiling faces, and the attention of the employees & the workmanship of the doctors were all perfect. I really recommend this dental clinic for anyone who wants dental care.
We started our dental treatment with Mr. Çağkan last week and it was completed today. This man is simply professional and friendly ! I would recommend a very successful dentist like him, along with his friendliness and sincerity to everyone.
I went there for a Wisdom tooth extraction and a root canal treatment. I would like to thank all Optimum Oral and Dental Health Center employees, especially Dr. Çağkan and Ms. Seren, for their high interest in my case and concern about my dental health. It is a super hygienic dental care center. Wishing them the best of luck !
